Entrepreneurial Senior Business Development Manager

Our innovative fermentation processes replace polluting chemical production and thus dramatically reduce CO2-footprint and chemical waste emissions. We focus primarily on producing important nutrients such as vitamins and antioxidants for use in industries such as personal care, dietary supplements, food fortification and animal feed.  


Bringing our strategy to life 

As our new Senior Business Development Manager, you will be very hands-on in taking the lead in commercializing our novel bio-based technologies.  

Your tasks will include: 

Commercialization - bringing our first products from lab to market 

  • Own a detailed business case and some of the key commercial activities to execute it 
  • Analyses of B2B & B2C markets incl. market sizing, interviews, competitor mapping. 
  • Drive progress with externals, i.e. product formulators, regulatory consultants, etc. 

Pipeline building - define new opportunities and lead in-licensing activities

  • Find, conceptualize and prioritize new opportunities in collaboration with R&D 
  • Commercially evaluate new opportunities wrt. attractiveness incl. business cases 
  • Drive in-licensing dialogues to conclude contracts for access to new technologies 

Strategic analyses – supporting company direction 

  • Various strategic analyses impacting business model and operating model decisions 
  • Provide board ready material for various decisions and commercial updates 


Strong consulting and business development background 

You have a business degree at Master’s level, 2-3 years’ experience from a management-consulting firm or similar and 2-3 years experience within business development. Preferably, your business development experience is from a larger tech-heavy company, ideally an industrial biotech company. Furthermore, we welcome the following qualifications: 

  • Previous responsible for leading commercialization of biotech solutions  
  • Responsible for closing partnership agreements such as in-licensing, JDAs or similar 
  • Highly structured and conceptual mindset while being pragmatic and action-oriented 
  • Focus on getting to results more so than doing everything correct 
  • Motived by understand the technology aspects better, perhaps also a technical degree 
  • A positive spirit which is solution and feedback oriented  
  • Can independently drive progress but recognize the need for working as a team  
  • Motivated by joining a growing start-up company with its challenges and opportunities 

You are able to independently scope and setup projects and deliver the projects on-time and in good quality while managing different stakeholders.  

Moreover, you should be a skilled communicator and change agent with an open mind as you will be working across many markets and stakeholders. Your level of drive lies far above average, and your can-do-attitude enables you to challenge the status quo and come up with ambitious solutions. An excellent command of PowerPoint, Excel, and English is a must.
