Full-time Traineeship for Downstream Process Development

 Founded in 2012 and located in Copenhagen, Denmark, Biosyntia is a thriving biotech startup dedicated to delivering sustainable fermentation processes for natural ingredients. Using proprietary technologies based on bioengineering and synthetic biology, we acceler­ate the development of microbial cell factories to a level previously unattainable.

We currently seek a highly motivated trainee to focus on the development of efficient downstream processes (DSP) towards the purification of natural compounds produced by microbial processes. This pro­ject will focus on setting up in-house downstream processes to support both internal and external programs, and the project is intended to last for 12 months.  


  • M.Sc. in Chemistry/ Biotechnology or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience working independent in wet lab projects.

Project period 

  • We are aiming for a start date in January 2019
  • The project is expected to be full-time and finish after 12 months.


  • Development of Downstream Processes including biomass removal, purification technologies such as ion exchange resin chromatography, membrane filtration techniques, decolorizing by adsorbent and crystallization.      
  • Data analysis and reporting

As a trainee, you will be fully integrated into our DSP and become responsible for your own sub-project. You will learn everything from project design and scope to project execution in the lab and analysis and interpretation of data.

Place of work

Will be at our research facilities at Fruebjergvej 3 at Østerbro in Copenhagen. You will be working together with ~20 other highly enthusiastic scientists in a young and dynamic environment with a lot of fun and social activities.


The gross salary level is 12.000 DKK per month.
